Shinde’s idea, called the “Vriksha Prasad Yojana,” would see devotees receiving plants along with traditional offerings at temples, encouraging them to contribute to environmental conservation by planting and nurturing these plants. Shayaji Shinde, who is already implementing this scheme in three prominent temples in Maharashtra—Siddhi Vinayaka Temple, Dagadusheth Ganapati Temple, and Mahalakshmi Temple—believes that the practice has the potential to foster a deeper connection between faith and environmental responsibility.

During a recent meeting at the Deputy Chief Minister’s camp office in Mangalagiri, Shinde explained the concept to Pawan Kalyan, who expressed his appreciation and support. Pawan Kalyan acknowledged the significance of the initiative and promised to discuss its implementation with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to possibly introduce the Vriksha Prasad Yojana across the state’s famous temples.

In the meeting, Shinde shared his motivation behind the initiative, stating that planting trees is vital for a sustainable future. “Man’s survival is intricately linked with nature. Every religion teaches the importance of preserving the environment. Giving plants as prasad serves as a reminder of our duty to protect nature,” Shinde remarked. He emphasized that incorporating this practice in temples could instill environmental values in the younger generation and foster a culture of conservation.

Shinde also recited a Marathi poem about the unique role of plants in human life, which Pawan Kalyan praised and even translated into Telugu. The actor explained that he personally undertook a plantation drive in memory of his mother, planting seeds equivalent to her weight.

As Shayaji Shinde envisions it, the Vriksha Prasad Yojana could symbolize a divine connection with nature, turning each act of planting into a sacred duty. With the backing of Pawan Kalyan and potentially the Andhra Pradesh government, Shinde hopes this practice will gain widespread acceptance and inspire communities to plant and protect trees for the benefit of future generations.
