The post IMD Weather Update: Heavy Rains and La Nina Impact Across India appeared first on Vizag One.

]]>
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a significant weather update indicating that heavy rains have been prevalent across all parts of the country this year. Surprisingly, the rain showers persist even into September, with IMD forecasting this rainy spell to extend through the entirety of October.

Adding to the weather dynamics, the Meteorological Department has highlighted a major development concerning La Nina. The onset of La Nina conditions is anticipated to manifest in September, a period typically associated with the monsoon season. La Nina, occurring towards the end of the monsoon, is known to trigger a notable dip in temperatures. The Meteorological Department warns of a potential escalation in cold conditions due to the escalated rainfall.

Northern regions of India are poised to receive substantial rainfall during September, with indications pointing to a continuation of these showers into October, influenced by the La Nina phenomenon. El Nino and La Nina events, resulting from slight fluctuations in sea surface temperatures, can orchestrate significant alterations in global weather patterns. While El Nino leads to warmer surface temperatures, La Nina induces cooler conditions. During La Nina, strong easterly winds propel ocean waters westward, causing a rapid cooling of the sea surface and fostering the formation of rain clouds.

The weather experts emphasize that these fluctuations are attributed to La Nina and El Nino occurrences. IMD forecasts the return of the monsoon in September due to the La Nina effect, potentially triggering a robust atmospheric impact in the Bay of Bengal. This atmospheric influence could sustain rain showers well into September and October, potentially delaying the conclusion of the monsoon season.

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning indicating the likelihood of heavy to very heavy rains in several districts of Telangana. Particularly, areas such as Adilabad, Komaram Bhim, Manchiryala, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagityala, Rajanna Sirisilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapalli, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Warangal, and Janagam are expected to experience moderate rainfall. A yellow alert has been issued for 16 districts with wind speeds ranging from 40 to 50 km per hour, accompanied by thunder and lightning.

In addition, the Meteorological Department has cautioned residents of both Telugu states about the possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in the upcoming days. Officials have observed a cyclone extending up to 5.8 km above sea level across the east-central Bay of Bengal and its surrounding regions. This phenomenon is anticipated to lead to the formation of a low-pressure system in the east-central and North Bay of Bengal.

The impact of this weather pattern is expected to result in heavy rains not only in Telangana but also in Andhra Pradesh. A surface circulation in the East Central Bay of Bengal and North Bay of Bengal is likely to give rise to low-pressure conditions in these areas. The forecast suggests that the low-pressure system will move west-northwestwards, reaching the coastal regions of South Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh within the next two days.

The subsequent three days are predicted to bring heavy rainfall to select locations in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Yanam may experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers on Thursday, accompanied by strong surface winds of 30-40 kmph. Similar weather patterns are expected on Friday and Saturday at various places along the coasts of Andhra Pradesh.
