However, the current trend is that residents are calling professional snake rescuers to safely remove and relocate the snakes. This approach ensures the safety of both humans and the reptiles while contributing to ecological balance.”

Snakes play a vital role in controlling pest populations, and their presence indicates a healthy environment. A local MRO office employee, who wished to remain anonymous, shared a recent snake encounter at their office in Seethammadhara. “We called the snake rescue team, and they promptly arrived to remove the reptile, although many of our colleagues were initially inclined to kill it.” This incident is just one of many that showcase the city’s growing awareness of the importance of protecting snakes.

Kiran Rokkam further disclosed that he rescues four to five snakes within city limits each month. “I’ve rescued pythons and cobras, including a cobra from the collector’s bungalow,” he said, adding that snakes are often found in various parts of the city as they search for food like rats and lizards.
