In response to a growing surge of bomb-threat hoaxes against Indian airlines, the government has intensified efforts to identify those responsible. On Thursday, officials requested that social media platforms Meta (formerly Facebook) and X (formerly Twitter) cooperate by sharing data related to these threats. The aim is to track down individuals using these platforms to issue bomb threats that have disrupted hundreds of flights nationwide.

A senior government official commented, “The government has instructed Meta and X to assist in identifying offenders and is seeking cooperation from major tech firms to trace these sources.” The government’s firm approach underscores the seriousness of these threats, which jeopardize public safety and cause massive disruptions across Indian airlines.

Sources reveal that over 80 flights received hoax bomb threats on Thursday alone, including flights from major airlines like Air India, IndiGo, Vistara, and Akasa Air. In just the past 11 days, more than 250 flights have been targeted by these malicious threats, resulting in extensive security protocols and delays, particularly affecting routes to and from Hyderabad.

The government has successfully identified certain individuals behind these calls and is pursuing necessary legal action, though further details remain confidential. Ensuring safety in the aviation sector remains a top priority, and authorities are determined to hold those responsible accountable. These actions aim to prevent further public disruptions, instill confidence among travelers, and uphold national security.
