The demand for AI and ML roles has surged by 433%, highlighting the increasing dependence on these technologies across various industries. Following closely, the demand for business process outsourcing (BPO) executives rose by 314%, indicating ongoing growth in the outsourcing and customer service sectors.
Despite their differing skill sets, both roles are contributing significantly to employment growth across the skill spectrum. This analysis is based on job demand data from Indeed, covering January 2022 to June 2024.
The report notes that AI/ML engineers are highly specialized technical positions, while BPO executives reflect a demand for more generalized, customer-focused roles. Additionally, roles such as receptionists, travel consultants, and electricians are also in high demand, showcasing a wide variety of sought-after positions.
Job postings for receptionists have increased by 310%, and travel consultants have seen a 285% rise, indicating a rebound in the travel and tourism industry. Sector-wise, sanitation and construction are experiencing notable growth, with job postings up by 160% and 121%, respectively, while electricians have seen a 258% increase in demand.
Other sectors with significant job growth include education and medical research, reflecting the rising needs in healthcare and educational services. “These trends provide important insights for both job seekers and employers, demonstrating the essential roles of high-tech and service-oriented positions in the evolving job market,” stated Sashi Kumar, head of Sales at Indeed India.
