The Meteorological Department has issued a warning that light to moderate rains are expected across Andhra Pradesh over the next two days. Coastal Andhra is likely to experience rain within the next 24 hours on Friday, as reported by the disaster management agency.
In particular, regions including Prakasam, Kurnool, Nandyala, Anantapur, Sri Sathyasai, YSR, Annamayya, Chittoor, and Tirupati are predicted to receive moderate rainfall on Friday. Meanwhile, lighter rains are forecasted for other areas, such as Alluri Sitaramaraj, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Kakinada, Konaseema, East Godavari, West Godavari, Eluru, Krishna, NTR, Guntur, Bapatla, and Palnadu.
Recent weather patterns have already affected Kurnool and Kadapa districts, where heavy rain has led to flooding. Floodwaters have reached the Kalle Vagu bridge in Alur, causing traffic disruptions between Guntakallu and Adoni from midnight until morning. Kadapa district has seen significant rainfall, inundating low-lying areas in the Pulivendula and Kamalapuram constituencies, leaving motorists struggling with standing water on main roads. Tragically, three individuals lost their lives due to lightning strikes in Tummalur, Kadapa district, on Thursday.
In neighboring Telangana, heavy rains are also anticipated, as per the Hyderabad Meteorological Center. Officials predict moderate rainfall in districts including Adilabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Janagam, Siddipet, Bhuvanagiri, Ranga Reddy, Hyderabad, Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagar Kurnool, Vanaparthi, Narayana Peta, and Gadwal. A yellow alert has been issued for 18 districts in the state, indicating the likelihood of significant weather events. The Meteorological Department has also warned of gusty winds expected to reach speeds of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour.
Residents are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions as these weather conditions unfold over the coming days.
